About Us

A drive for safe, intersectional, intergenerational 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Eastern Washington and North Idaho is at the core of everything we do. We strive to create virtual and in-person community spaces, build a culture of care, commit to advocacy and allyship, provide education and facilitation services to organizations / individuals, and fill gaps that arise through pop up events.

MISSION

Spectrum’s mission is to create a safe, intersectional, intergenerational, 2SLGBTQIA+ community gathering space that celebrates a resilient, healthy community through social connectedness and support, arts and culture, access to resources, and leadership development

VISION

The long term vision is for Spectrum to be the primary change agent for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community by advocating for social progress in Eastern Washington. We support a thriving and diverse population through education, social events, services, social activism, visibility, and by uplifting and collaborating with other organizations.

VALUES

Authenticity: To engage authentically with each other by saying what we mean and speaking from experience while maintaining the belief that others are doing the same. We create space for 2SLGBTQIA+ people to be our authentic selves. where we can remember our history, honor those who have come before us, convalesce from traumas both Intergenerational: Build an intergenerational space past and present, and strive for a future that has a place for all life stages.

Check out our 2020 Annual Report

Despite the challenges of 2020, Spectrum launched successfully, receiving initial funding and achieving 501(c)(3) status. The organization expanded by hiring staff and implementing remote programming, supported by a diverse board and community volunteers. Spectrum's education and advocacy efforts continued through remote workshops, thanks to partnerships with Excelerate Success and Better Health Together.

Spectrum's second year coincided with the ongoing pandemic, during which the organization navigated remote work and tripled its revenue, enabling staff expansion and increased community investment. Creative programming included virtual book clubs, GAYme nights, peer support groups, and educational workshops. Spectrum launched the Gender Affirming Products Program and established the Community Care Coordination branch, aiming to open an LGBTQIA2S+ Health Clinic.
