Individuals at a Spectrum Event

Get Involved

2SLGBTQIA+ people are a part of EVERY COMMUNITY! That’s why Spectrum works hard to center intersectionality, fight systemic injustice, and amplify awareness in all that we do. We co-lead efforts and partner with allied organizations to  raise awareness,  draw public support, and get people involved in important issues. As we grow, we continue to learn more ways to empower our community. Our existence is resistance and we will fight for lasting policy change, be it through joining boards and committees, empowering protests, speaking to legislators, organizing community members, educational teach- ins, community surveys, and facilitating town halls.

There is no PRIDE without BLM

Spectrum unequivocally rises in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and condemns the continued racial terror overwhelming our society today. Audre Lorde reminds us, "There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle, because we do not lead single issue lives."

While some of us may look to celebrate Pride Month, a month that would not exist without trans women of color fighting against the brutality of police at Stonewall, recent events call us to remember that the struggle for justice is truly just beginning.

We have signed on with the Human Rights Campaign and over 200 other 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations in a letter condemning racial violence.

MMIP Statement

The 500 year fight against systemic injustice and brutality towards Indigenous peoples continues in tandem to 2SLGBTQIA+ persecuted, murdered and marginalized peoples living in the United States. Homophobia and racism have no place here and have never had a place here. Denial of hate crimes by the state and other factions not only undermines principles of tribal sovereignty that predate current government systems of violence and colonization but it emboldens the hate crimes committed against our communities and negates the accuracy of our history in this country. Our peoples will not be forgotten, so we will continue to stand in solidarity against and condemn this outward display of cruelty as we have for centuries.

Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Spectrum! We promise it won’t be all work and no play, though we do have different categories of opportunities to choose from to ensure volunteering is an enjoyable and rewarding experience. In addition, we usually provide snacks, water, and emphasize community/relationship building, to create community and uplift one another along the way.
